| The Rapid City Peace Officers Association-Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 2 The Rapid City Peace Officers Association-Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 2 is a fraternal organization composed of members of the legal and law enforcement community in and around Rapid City, South Dakota. At its inception, the organization was known as the Rapid City Police Officers Association and its membership was limited to employees of the Rapid City Police Department. The RCPOA later opened its membership to other law enforcment and legal fields, including local, county, state and federal agencies. Its current membership includes or has included Police Officers, Deputy Sheriffs, South Dakota State Troopers, South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigations Agents, Prosecuting Attorneys, Federal agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, I.C.E., US Marshals, and Agents from the US Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI). When membership was opened to other agencies, the name was changed to the Rapid City Peace Officers Association. On January 12, 1999, the Fraternal Order of Police, SD Lodge 2 was chartered. Many of members of the newly formed FOP Lodge were also members of the Rapid City Peace Officers Association. On January 27, 2005, the membership of both organizations voted to merge and the Rapid City Peace Officers Association-Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 2, South Dakota, was formed. Although serving primarily as a fraternal organization for its members, the RCPOA/FOP Lodge 2 SD is actively involved in charitable work and frequently contributes to various charitable causes, primarily involving youth organizations, and our fund raising efforts allow us to provide such donations. |
